Protecting the Sea Turtles

Are you interested in volunteering in Pedasi?  The turtles could use your help…

Currently, sea turtles are not protected under Panamanian law in this area.  This means that turtle eggs are collected and sold for eating all the time.  If it can be proven that there are significant numbers of turtles nesting in this area, which there are, then the government will take measures to start to protect them.

How can you help?  Twice a month there are turtle monitoring excursions, where volunteers go on beach walks at night to track turtle activity.  The information is then shared with the correct government agencies, who will one day (hopefully) join in on protecting the turtles.  Here is the schedule for the upcoming months:

Martes 16: 7:30pm – 11:30pm
